Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) practitioner Carl Massaro has owned and led operations as the head instructor at Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu of Northern Valley since 2008. In this position, he trains students of all ages and skill levels. Carl Massaro and his staff of BJJ instructors strive to help students achieve their goals in an exciting, welcoming environment. The team operates with an emphasis on developing self-awareness, confidence, and self-respect.
Carl Massaro holds distinctions across several schools of martial arts. In addition to his 4th Degree black belt in jiu-jitsu, he is a 1st Degree black belt in tae kwon do and a black belt in freestyle martial arts. He has used his skills and experience to train numerous jiu-jitsu and mixed martial arts champions. He has also played an integral role at professional Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) camps run by UFC champion Georges St. Pierre.
Carl Massaro holds a history degree from Montclair State University. His interests include knife making, blacksmithing, antique sword restoration, and sword collecting.
